André Williams

Founder, Creative Director

As an Artist based in Indianapolis, IN., André has spent a the past 10 years expanding his knowledge in theatre, dance, and the marching arts.

He first found his love for the performing arts through music. André began his journey as a percussion at 10, and throughout his HS career at Warren Central High School. André was a member of the percussion ensemble, honors band, jazz band, and the Drum Major of the Gold Brigade Marching Band for 3 years. During his HS career he began to find his voice as a dancer, and his obsession with the marching arts which led him to audition and perform as the first male member of the Warren Central World Guard. After graduating, he attended DePauw University as a music education major and eventually found my way to the theatre department, focusing his studies in dance theatre.

At DePauw University, André strived to expand the dance culture. He began by offering any help he could to dance ensembles on campus, and soon after working with a few groups, he  founded Company Unspoken, the first student-led dance company at DePauw, and with this group put forth 3 MainStage dance productions that he directed and choreographed. He also presented multiple dance works on campus, most notably collaborating with Dr. Craig Paré and the University Band and DePauw's Artsfest in 2014. He also spent this time growing as a guard performer and designer, touring with the Madison Scouts Drum and Bugle Corp. in 2013, Designing and Choreographing for local guards North Putnam and Cloverdale High School, and returning to my High School alma mater as a technician and choreographer for the Warren Central World Guard. He graduated my BLA in Theatre at DePauw University and  I returned back to Indianapolis, IN., where he decided to pursue his career as a professional dancer.

André continued to work with and direct guard programs across the midwest while pursuing his career as a dancer, He had the great opportunity to learn from David Hochoy after returning to Indianapolis, and later was approached with the opportunity to be the executive assistant at the beginnings of Phoenix Rising Dance Studio in 2015. He also accepted a contract with Phoenix Rising Dance Company, under the direction of Justin Sears-Watson, as a founding member. Over the years he's worked in several roles involving both the studio and company and currently holds the title, Senior Company Member and  Rehearsal Director. He also has served as a resident choreographer for the past 2 seasons.

André uses his knowledge of theatre and  skillset as a dancer to enhance his art and design for the Marching Arts. He has Choreographed, consulted, and designed for groups such as The Sound of Brownsburg and Brownsburg Color Guard, Marian University Marching Band and Guard, Marian University Ensō, Legacy Performing Arts, Legends Drum and Bugle Corp., and several others. You can find his current visual work, and choreography with the Mt. Vernon Band of Marauders as Visual Coordinator and Color Guard Director, as well as the Visual Coordinator and Guard Director of Pike High School.
